Pesta Boneka is an independent, international puppet biennale, initiated in and produced since 2008 by Papermoon Puppet Theatre in their home city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The chosen theme for 2026 is “HOLDING HANDS”, to show a gesture of affection and support to each other. "HOLDING HANDS" is a much needed gesture these days, where borders were built, people lived in their own frames, and polarisation happens everywhere.

Puppetry is a selfless medium, that could be the bridge to communicate between people.

Our open call is now open and will close on August 4th, 2025, with successful applicants announced 31st October 2025.
