Révélations Biennale Paris 2025

21st - 25th May 2025 | Paris, France

Edric Ong (Senior Vice President APR) is representing Sarawak arts this week at the Révélations Biennale Paris. Held at the Grand Palais, this international fine craft and creation biennale is a spectacular event, and a prominent platform to share traditional crafts with the rest of the world.

Edric is there as curator of ‘Sarawak Crafts Revealed’, a collection of talented artisans from Malaysia, presenting traditional and contemporary works in the fibre arts. Their works include pieces made from materials such as bamboo, rattan, pandanus leaves and roots, tree bark, sago palm bast, ‘bemban’ (arrowroot), handwoven natural dyed cotton & silk textiles.

There is a buzz coming from the event, with fantastic opportunities to meet and connect with other makers and supporters from around the globe. It was great to hear Edric had the chance to meet up with other World Crafts Council representatives, including Indrasen Vencatahellum (Advisor WCC-AISBL) and Barbara Velasco (Vice President WCC-Latin America).

A special highlight was when the French President Macron stopped by the Sarawak exhibition to speak to the artists and learn more about the work. He was presented with a rattan Topi Tunjang hat and his wife was gifted a kabo bead necklace as well. A real honour for Edric and the Sarawak artists.

There is also talk of the possibility of invitations being sent to more Asia Pacific nations for the next Biennale in 2027.

Congratulations to Sarawak Crafts Revealed team, and enjoy the rest of the event!
