Inauguration of World Craft Villages

Bat Trang Ceramic Village as WCC-World Craft Village for Ceramic
Van Phuc Silk Weaving Village as WCC-World Craft Village for Silk Weaving

This important event heralded the first of what we hope are many announcements recognising the cultural and historic value and continuing contribution to the creative economy of these two villages near Hanoi.

The Hanoi People’s Committee with the committees for the craft villages created exceptional events around the announcements and a wonderful program of events was devised by our Vice President for South-East Asia Mr Le Ba Ngoc, vice Chairman of Vietcraft.

These two villages have exemplary histories of ceramic and silk weaving and the quality of the works created will long be an inspiration. As with all of the villages and cities within the WCC network, continuous focus on the issues of tourism potential, product and market development are critical to ensuring a healthy future.
